Overview
Students who already possess a Master’s Degree in Nuclear Engineering may, with the permission of their faculty advisor and NE advisor, apply up to 24 hours of Master’s level coursework (taken at UNM or elsewhere) to the 48 credit hour requirements.

Programme Structure
- Approaching the conclusion of the degree, students must notify the Senior Academic Advisor prior to the beginning of their final semester.
- At least two weeks prior to the thesis defense, students submit an Announcement of Exam (form is located under "Examination/Grades"). The completed thesis must be submitted to the Office of Graduate Studies by their final deadline. The deadline is published on the Office of Graduate Studies calendar.

- Application for Graduate Studies
- Program of Interest. If you are pursuing an MS with a concentration in Radiation Protection or Medical Physics, please select this concentration in the Interest field. If you are not pursuing either concentration, please select “Undecided” from the drop-down list.
- The General GRE exam is required. The Institution Code is 4845, directly from the testing service (ets.org). No subject code is required.
- Letter of intent that summarizes your qualifications, professional goals, and indicates the area of nuclear engineering which you want to pursue. You may refer to the guidelines for writing this letter.
- CV/Resume
- Assistantship Interest.
- Three (3) online letters of recommendation are required. Please enter your recommendation providers right away to help expedite your application (online submission only).
- Official Transcript from each institution you have attended.
