Overview
Requirements
The requirements for a PhD degree in Molecular Biology Microbiology include coursework, participation in formal and informal seminars, a research qualifying examination, and the PhD thesis.
In addition to the core curriculum, students in the Molecular Biology and Microbiology program of the Case Western Reserve University are required to complete a minimum of sixteen additional credit hours of advanced coursework. Recent examples of specialized, elective courses offered by Molecular Biology Microbiology include Molecular Biology of RNA, RNA Viruses, Oncogenes, and Tumor Suppressor Genes, Cell Surfaces and Matrices, Yeast Genetics and Cell Biology, and Bacterial Genetics and Pathogenicity.

- Application Fee: A non refundable application fee of $50 is required for each application submitted
- Test Scores
- Applicants must have a good academic record
- Applicants will be expected to meet all of the undergraduate prerequisites for the proposed field of graduate study
- Students entering through BSTP begin the first of three research rotations during the summer and participate in the Core Curriculum in Cell and Molecular Biology (C3MB), two integrated courses which provide formal instruction in modern cell and molecular biology
