Overview
The doctoral curriculum in Applied Mathematics combines advanced core coursework in real analysis, matrix analysis, and applied analysis with specialized seminars tailored to each candidate’s dissertation research. Students demonstrate foundational mastery by passing the Master’s Written Comprehensive Examinations and qualifying coursework before advancing to specialized doctoral studies. Candidates formulate a research proposal under faculty mentorship, defend their dissertation proposal, and ultimately complete and orally defend an original doctoral dissertation.
