Overview
Education
Students interested in pursuing research in a particular focus area receive guidance in selecting advanced coursework that is tailored to educate them about a specific concentration of biomedical engineering.
Biomechanics is the study of the structure and function of biological systems, using the methods of mechanics. Biomechanics can be applied to whole organisms, organs, cells and cell organelles. Biomechanical experimental measures and computational approaches are fundamental to nearly every possible biomedical engineering application.
The Biomedical Engineering - Biomechanics program at Northwestern University provides a solid foundation in engineering and life sciences. It is designed to produce graduates who can lead research and development programs at the highest levels in industry, academia, and national laboratories.
