Between five and 10 PhD students at University of Canterbury are studying in the Faculty of Law at any one time. Full and part-time study options are available. With approval, extramural enrolment is possible.

General requirements
- hold a master’s degree or doctorate in the subject; and
- have at least 15 years of research experience following graduation; and
- where a student does not hold a degree of Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury, they will have at least 5 years of research experience associated with Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | University of Canterbury.
