At West Virginia University, the program's newly revised curriculum prepares Doctors of Physical Therapy to be experts in human movement.

As part of an academic medical center, students benefit from rich learning experiences, including:
- Interprofessional Education – learning with, about, and from other healthcare professionals.
- WV Simulation Training and Education for Patient Safety (WV STEPS), WVU’s premiere patient simulation lab.
- Gross anatomy laboratories featuring cadaver dissection for enhanced learning.
- Extensive hands-on laboratory experiences, supervised by expert PT faculty, allow students to master patient care skills.
Programme Structure
Research
- All faculty members have active scholarship agendas and collaborate in interdisciplinary programs with faculty in other departments and centers within WVU as well as researchers in other universities nationally and internationally.
- The Division’s faculty are principal investigators and project leaders in clinical and laboratory research that is funded by federal, state and philanthropic sources. This funding has been consistent and currently totals nearly $2 million.

General requirements
- Completion of a baccalaureate degree: Applicants must have earned a baccalaureate degree, or plan on completing a baccalaureate degree by May of the year of entering the program.
- Completion of prerequisite courses (see below): College coursework will only be accepted from accredited institutions in the United States, and must include the listed prerequisite courses.
- Overall cumulative GPA: An overall cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required. The cumulative GPA includes all previous college coursework at all institutions the student has attended.
- Prerequisite science GPA: A GPA of 3.0 in the prerequisite courses is required.
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores
