Overview
Founded in the 1980s, this Mediterranean Art and Archaeology interdisciplinary program at University of Virginia aims to foster a thorough acquaintance with Greek and Roman visual and material cultures, it also allows students to acquire a broad understanding of ancient Mediterranean culture.

- Given the specialized and personal nature of PhD research, applicants are strongly encouraged to contact faculty members with whom they may wish to study.
- Students are required to submit three letters of recommendation.
- Applicants should submit a sample of their written work.
- Students who have not completed a prior degree in English must take the TOEFL exam and score at least 90.
