Overview
The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) at University of Virginia empowers nurses who want to practice at the highest clinical level, making decisions, leading people and teams, and improving systems and safety as they transform healthcare as nurse leaders.
Features
- Graduates with this degree can become nurse administrators, leaders in government affairs, teachers and professors, and chief nursing officers.
Programme Structure
Curriculum:- With a DNP, you’ll earn all the personal, financial, and professional benefits a doctoral degree brings; as a UVA School of Nursing graduate, you’ll also reap the rewards and connections a degree from Virginia’s top-ranked nursing program offers.
- UVA offers two pathways for nurses interested in a DNP: a BSN to DNP program and an MSN to DNP program. The program's executive, hybrid format means that students attend in-person classes just once a month with the balance of their learning online.

Other requirements
General requirements
- The School of Nursing welcomes applications from international students for its graduate degree programs. International applicants must submit the regular admissions application plus these additional requirements.
- Applicants who are non-native speakers of English must demonstrate a strong ability in academic English from the TOEFL or IELTS examination scores that are no more than 24 months old.
- All international transcripts need to be evaluated by a credentials evaluation service. This will provide a report about the education system of the host country and 'translate' the grading system to the 4.0 American-style GPA. Several companies provide this credentials evaluation, and UVA cannot recommend one over another.
