Overview
Context of The self-perception of adults with orofacial clefting at University of Dundee
Our research community thrives on the diversity of students and staff which helps to make the University of Dundee a UK university of choice for postgraduate research.
Orofacial clefting (OFC) is one of the most common congenital anomalies worldwide and the most common of all facial birth defects. Being born with OFC can have a significant impact on both function and aesthetics and can affect individuals psychologically as well as physically. It has been found that people affected by OFC experience greater difficulties throughout their lives with patients reporting issues relating to social acceptance, work opportunities and relationships.
It is hoped that once any issues have been revealed, that measures may be undertaken to ensure that OFC patients have the holistic treatment that their condition demands.
