Overview

This Juris Doctorate - Public Health dual degree offered by Drexel University enables students to pursue the Juris Doctor (JD) and Master of Public Health (MPH) simultaneously. It is offered through the Kline School of Law and the Dornsife School of Public Health and is designed to provide specialized knowledge concerning legal and policy dimensions of public health. Students develop an understanding of the relationship between law, healthcare, and public policy through multiple disciplinary perspectives while majoring in Health Management and Policy for the MPH component.

Students complete their first year in the Law School before undertaking public health coursework and remaining degree requirements. Learning includes interdisciplinary projects, public health law co-op experiences in settings such as hospitals, law firms, public interest organizations, and government agencies, and study of health systems, research methods, healthcare quality, business regulation, professional responsibility, health disparities, patient rights, bioethics, patient safety, and public health systems. The curriculum also includes experiential requirements, pro bono work, and opportunities to concentrate studies within Health Management and Policy.
