Overview
The Learning, Cognition, Instruction, and Development - Literacy Education programme at Rutgers University will explore research and theory as applied to teachers, learners, and policymaking across the human lifespan and the professional continuum.
Students who complete the requirements will exit the program with a comprehensive understanding of multimodal and digital literacies, new literacy studies, critical literacy, literacy and identity, and numerous approaches to teaching reading and writing.

- Students entering the specialization can expect that a strong emphasis will be placed on developing the skills of the researcher, specifically regarding research design, development and use of qualitative and quantitative research tools, data analysis, writing, and the use of research as a vehicle to advance literacy education theory and practice.
