About the program
As the only accredited dental school in Nevada, the School of Dental Medicine at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas provides world-class oral health education while providing for the dental needs of Nevada residents.
This Doctor of Dental Surgery degree enables dentists who were trained in non-U.S. accredited institutions to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to practice in the United States.
Programme Structure
The DDS program will train those dentists from non-U.S. accredited dental schools to be able to:- Develop principles of ethical reasoning and professional responsibility as they pertain to the academic environment, patient care, practice management, and research on dentistry.
- Demonstrate self-assessment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills related to the comprehensive dental care of patients.
- Promote oral and systemic health of patients within private practice and the community.
- Diagnose, treat and/or manage all discipline areas recognized by the general dentist.

General requirements
- Evidence of a dental degree or equivalent from a foreign country: An official copy of diploma and/or degree, transcript (translated into English) from the applicant’s dental school or equivalent institute in the original unopened dental school sealed envelope.
- Official dental school transcripts evaluated course by course with GPA by Educational Credentials Evaluators, Inc. (ECE). To ensure uniformity of evaluation, ECE is the only credentialed evaluation report accepted.
- Successful Completion of the National Board Dental Examinations (NBDE) Parts I and II, or the Integrated National Board Dental Examination (INBDE) within the past five years.
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation are required.
