About the program
The Biochemistry and Molecular Biology program at the University of California, Riverside emphasizes an in-depth study of the field with considerable flexibility to individually tailor course selection with regard to academic interests and area of specialization in the student's field of research.
A diversity of research programs is available for students. Areas of research specialization include molecular biology, physical biochemistry, molecular endocrinology, plant biochemistry and molecular biology, signal transduction, and biomedical research.

- To be admitted to graduate status, the basic requirement is a bachelor's degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution, with a major appropriate to the proposed graduate program.
- A completed electronic application form
- A statement of purpose
- Official transcripts of all previous undergraduate and graduate work
- Graduate Record Examination (GRE) General test scores
- Three letters of recommendation (two of these must be from ladder-rank faculty)
- For non-US citizens whose native language is not English, we require the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).
