Overview
The Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse Practitioner program at the University of Cincinnati offers:

Graduates of this specialty meet educational requirements to take exams for national certification. Certified Adult-Gero Acute Care NPs provide services ranging from disease prevention to critical care to stabilize a patient’s condition, prevent complications, restore health, or offer palliative care.
Adult-Gero Acute Care NPs also coordinate comprehensive care in and across health care settings to ensure patients’ needs are met during care transitions. Many Adult-Gero Acute Care NPs work in hospitals, ambulatory care facilities or short-term stay settings.

General requirements
- Applicants to the Adult-Gero Acute Care NP DNP program must have at least one year of work experience in the acute care setting as a registered nurse. Students must reside in Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana while in the program.
- Current, active, unrestricted RN license
- A Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an ACEN (formerly NLNAC) or CCNE accredited school of nursing
- Final admission decisions are based on the applicant's experience, references, test scores (if applicable), GPA and the recommendation of the interviewers.
