Overview
The department is especially strong in philosophy of mind and philosophy of the life sciences. The Ph.D. program in Philosophy offers two tracks, the Traditional Track and the Sciences Track. Students in the Sciences Track do graduate work in a science and write an interdisciplinary dissertation.
Features
The graduate program at the University of Cincinnati is a relatively small one which allows close working relationships between faculty and graduate students. In recent years, the ratio of faculty to funded graduate students has been nearly one to one.
Distinguished visiting speakers are brought to the department on a regular basis. The department hosts an annual colloquium, which brings in up to a dozen scholars focused on a specific theme.
