We specialize in the study of social inequality, specifically in the areas of community and urban sociology, health and medicine, race and ethnicity, and gender and sexuality. We encourage prospective graduate students interested in these issues to join us.
Careers
The PhD program in Sociology at the University of Cincinnati provides both teaching and research experience for students in the course of their graduate work. Most graduates get academic jobs, but some choose research-oriented jobs in government or private sector.
The PhD program meets the needs of the State of Ohio and the tri-state region by training students for academic teaching positions at universities and colleges, and for research positions in firms, hospitals, and government agencies.
