Overview
Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (DOs) and their colleagues, doctors of allopathic medicine (MDs), are both licensed physicians qualified for the unlimited practice of medicine and surgery. So, in our ever-evolving world of patient-first care, what exactly is the difference? There are a few nuances, but here at RVU we like to say—DO’s do it all. The Osteopathic Medicine program is offered at Rocky Vista University.
The DO Difference
- Holistic Approach: DOs are trained to look beyond symptoms, considering the whole person and their lifestyle, environment, and emotional well-being in diagnosis and treatment.
- Patient-Centered Care: emphasizing empathy and communication, DOs build strong patient-physician relationships, ensuring patients feel heard, understood, and cared for.
- Versatility: With the ability to practice in any medical specialty and setting, DOs offer a flexible and adaptable approach to healthcare, meeting the varied needs of diverse patient populations.
