  • Global climate change and environmental problems.
  • Plant ecology of agriculture.
  • Tropical, semi/desert botany and plant ecology.
  • Plant stress physiology.
  • Ecophysiology of desiccation tolerant plants and their communities.
  • Topics of plant and microfungi taxonomy, coenology, plant geography.
  • Environmental protection and nature conservation.

  • Taxonomy, faunistics and zoogeography of invertebrates.
  • Animal population ecology, population dynamics.
  • Interactions of the animal populations.
  • Synzoology with special reference to community organisation and biogeochemical cycles.

Programme Structure

Courses include:

  • Doctoral courses at Szent István University are organized into PhD Schools with the aim of implementing educational, research and training activities at the highest level of study.
  • Our PhD programs are research-oriented, degree-donating projects for outstanding students. The PhD effort involves theoretical studies in a particular scientific area and original research that enriches the knowledge in the field selected for the study.
  • During their doctoral studies the PhD students are prepared for a creative career in academic life, business, government or industry.
  • PhD studies comprise tutorial courses, experimental work, as well as preparation and defense of the thesis.

English Language Requirements

  • Minimum required score:

The TOEFL iBT ® measures your English-language abilities in an academic setting. The test has four sections (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), each with a score range of 0-30, for a total score range of 0-120.
