Szent István University (SZIU), one of Hungary’s most prominent institutions of higher education, consists of seven different faculties for study and research hosting approximately 14,000 students.

Szent István University's rich history dates back to the 18th century. With such a long history and legacy of excellence, Szent István University stands as a central pillar of higher education in Hungary and throughout the region.


Within the ten faculties degree programs are offered in a wide variety of subjects ranging from natural sciences, engineering and veterinary medicine to business, economics, social sciences, health sciences and pedagogy. Programmes are available at every level from vocational training to PhD and beyond.


Research activity of the Szent István University (SZIU) has long term traditions. As recognition of its scientific activity SZIU received a qualification of "excellent university" in 2010. Scientific cooperation within the university and with other higher educational institutions, academic and research institutes is very important. It became more and more important to be in contact with the business sector as well.


Housing services

  • The university has different places for housing. Where you will be placed depends on when you get your application in, where you want to be and whether you are graduate or undergraduate student.
  • When you come, you will have to pay a security deposit on the room.
  • You can arrive at any time to occupy the room, as the dormitory is open 24 hours, but it is best to notify the co-ordinator of your program or your advisor, so they can help you through the process of moving in.

Library services

  • Our library is a university library and also a national public scientific library which serves the alumni, tutors and researchers of the university faculties in Gödöll"o and as a public library serves also the people interested in scientific themes of the collection.
  • To use the library, you need to obtain a Library Card.

Medical services

If you are an EU citizen, you can use your E111 card at every doctor's office (if not private practice) in case of emergency. Otherwise you have to pay for healthcare, but you can forward your bills to your insurance company for reimbursement, depending on your private insurance.

Campus life

  • The university campuses, located throughout the country, are home to some beautiful buildings in Hungary, offering students and staff a comfortable, relaxing environment for the attainment of knowledge.
  • With parts of its history dating back well over two centuries, SZIU blends Hungary’s rich traditions with cutting-edge technology to meet the needs of its students in today’s competitive labour markets.

Sports facilities

  • Szent István University founded the SZIE Sport Kft. to manage the sports facilities which are owned by the institution. The company has the opportunity now to ensure the services on a higher quality for the SZIE citizens and for the people in the region.
  • The main goal of the SZIE Sport to ensure the background of the Sports Office, including the PE lessons and the freetime sport. From the incomes the company can develop the facilities and raise the quality of its service.
  • Or goal is to satisfy the demands which appeard in the region and to make a more seductive University with the help of the sport.


The course was validated in Malta by the NCFHE (National Commission for Further and Higher Education) which ensures the validity of the ECTS accreditation at Masters level in the European Union – stated Mr. Stephen D’Alessandro, the director of Advenio eAcademy, Malta. The training is very intensive and it sets high expectations, but these conditions guarantee the high level and the quality of the course for the students.
