The MSIS PhD program prepares students for careers as college professors in upper and mid-tier research universities. After graduating from the program, students are able to conduct high quality academic research and teach a variety of information systems courses at the university level.

About

The program provides for immersion of students in information systems research and publication, national level conferences, and college level classroom instruction. 

The faculty in the department have diverse technical and behavioral information systems research interests and they are nationally or internationally known for their research over a range of topics including but not limited to data analytics and business intelligence, information assurance, management science, enterprise systems, and productions and operations management. 

The program is based in the low-cost highly livable communities of Stillwater and Tulsa in Oklahoma.

All qualified students receive full financial support including tuition, stipend, health care premium payments, and initial moving expense. We also provide generous travel support to present your work at leading academic conferences. There are top-tier fellowship opportunities for outstanding PhD students and possibilities for additional summer funding.

The full-time program requires about two years of course work followed by work towards a dissertation. The average expected time for completion is 4 years.

The Ph.D. Program in Business Administration, MSIS option, at Oklahoma State prepares candidates for academic careers involving high quality research and instruction. There are four specializations offered under the MSIS option:

  • Management Information Systems (MIS)
  • Telecommunications Management (TCOM)
  • Management Science(MS)
  • Production and Operations Management (POM)
