Overview
Education
The Department offers integrated MA/PhD programs in Hispanic Linguistics, Iberian Studies, Latin American Cultural and Literary Studies, and Literatures and Cultures of the Portuguese-Speaking World. All applicants apply directly to the PhD program; applicants without a prior MA in the field may earn one on the way to the PhD.
There are other exciting fields that reflect the interdisciplinary approach to research of our faculty and students, who frequently take courses outside the Department. Our faculty members and graduate students pursue a great variety of research interests within these fields.
Faculty members maintain active research programs and are, at the same time, committed to excellence in instruction, as attested by numerous teaching awards won in recent years. The Spanish and Portuguese program is offered by The Ohio State University.
