History

The Czech University of Life Sciences Prague (CULS) is a public university, established by Act No.111/1998 Coll. on Higher Education Institution.

Education

In harmony with global trends, the Faculty of Agrobiology, Institute of Tropics and Subtropics, as well as our two new Faculties of Environmental Sciences & Forestry and Wood Sciences are putting more and more emphasis on educating students in the crucial areas of safety in the food chain and protection of the biosphere. The Faculty of Engineering also educates graduates in ecologically sound waste management, environmentally friendly road vehicle management and alternative energy production. Finally, the Faculty of Economics and Management, the largest Faculty of the university, offers more courses focusing on the rural, modern sectors of economy, up-to-date management of private, corporate&state enterprises.

Research

At CULS research is systematically carried out in the area of life sciences and bioeconomy: from physiology and molecular biology, forestry, environmental issues and rural development to modern management methods and cutting edge technologies.

Student services

The International Relations Office of the Czech University of LIfe Sciences Prague (CULS) is a central administration unit, situated on the 4th floor of the Rectorate building, in Prague Suchdol.

Housing services

Before you enrol in your 1st year of studies you will have to go to the study administration office, the dormitory administration, and fill out official forms (e.g. application for ISIC card, registering as a student residing at the Halls of Residence/Dormitories, etc.). One of the advantages of CULS campus is that all Faculties, Halls of Residence, Sport Centre, etc. are situated at one place.

Library services

The library is part of the Study and Information Centre - the core of the services of SIC is a college library offering loaning of study literature as well as teaching information literacy courses. However SIC hosts also additional services which support study, pedagogical and research activities in the campus. 

ICT services

The Moodle system allows you to: browse individual courses containing information and materials from selected subjects, communicate with other students and teachers, hand in assignments online directly in the course, write tests and continuously verify your knowledge, and to always have an overview of the current academic year and follow current events and deadlines.

Medical services

Every foreigner who wants to stay in the Czech Republic must have and pay health insurance.

Student Life

Campus life

One of the advantages of CULS campus is that all Faculties, Halls of Residence, Sport Centre, etc. are situated at one place.

Sports facilities

First and second year students are involved in sports activities organised by CULS Department of PhysicalEducation (DPE). These include traditional sports, such as swimming, aerobics in its various forms, bodybuilding, volleyball, basketball, football and floor-ball. Students can also take part in other sporting disciplines, according to their choice. Older students can participate in optional sport events.
