Gdansk University of Technology is among the 50 best european technical universities - members of CESEAR and it's one of the oldest univeristies in Poland that employs 2500 people, including 1200 academic teachers, has 9 faculties and 41 fields of study.

About

History

It was designed by Prof. Albert Carsten and was founded in 1904 as Königliche Technische Hochschule zu Danzig. Early XXth century students took courses at 6 faculties: Architecture, Building Engineering, Machines Construction and Electro-Mechanics, Ship and Maritime Machines Engineering, Chemistry, and General Science. Gdansk (then known as Danzig) was at that time part of the German Empire.

Career

Between 1904 and 2014 over 111 000 well-educated young people graduated from our university. Among GUT alumni are CEOs of large companies, persons holding high public offices, entrepreneurs, creators of well-known brands, renowned architects. Many of them appreciate education and practical skills gained at the university.

The biggest employers also value Gda´nsk University of Technology graduates. In the ranking of universities "Wprost" 2015 Gda´nsk University of Technology took seventh place among 50 schools whose graduates are most often sought by employers. Taking into account only the Universities of Technology - our university is on the fifth position. It is unrivaled in the Pomerania region.

Services

Housing services

We can offer over 2700 beds in 12 dormitories in three attractive locations. Student dormitories are located in the outskirts of the Tricity Landscape Park, close to the university and not far from the seaside.

High standard accommodation with single, double and triple rooms with a bathroom in two room apartments. There are also rooms suitable for the disabled in the dormitories. Each tenant has access to a shared kitchen (tenants have to bring their own cookware and dishes), a laundry room, a gym, and a quiet study room.

There is a computer network in each dormitory and internet connection.There is a fridge and a phone in each room.

ICT services

GUT Nanotechnology Centre (A and B). Equally impressive investments include: Laboratory of Innovative Power Technologies and Integration of Renewable Energy Sources LINTE ^ 2, a complex consisting of Mathematics Teaching and Distance Learning Centre, and the aforementioned Nanotechnology Centre B, and the absolutely unique on a global scale Immersive 3D Visualization Laboratory.

Student Life

Campus life

Within the campus historic architecture coexists with modern buildings full of wellequipped teaching rooms and highly specialized laboratories.

The symbol of the university is the monumental Main Building, built in the early twentieth century, and designed in Neo-Renaissance style by the renowned Dutch architect, Albert Carsten, later professor of the university. Students and staff have access to high-class sports facilities at the GUT Center for Academic Sport.

Sports facilities

In ASC there are 20 sports sections including swimming, athletics, judo, volleyball, football, tennis and table tennis. Sports center is located in Wrzeszcz on the main traffic route, close to SKM(a commuter train) and tram lines. We have a modern, newly renovated swimming pool complex, which is used by students during physical education classes.

We set a new indoor tennis courts and replaced the surface on the football pitch. There are a climbing wall and two volleyball courts available for students. Thanks to it our students succeed during national and international competitions. We also invite you to the new gym and aerobics room. Those keen on martial arts should visit our judo section.

Student clubs

Participation in the activity of circles and student organisations is an excellent way to develop your personality and improve your team working skills. Getting involved in scientific or cultural projects will let you share the organisational spirit and it will bring you satisfaction while still having fun.

You can also join travellers, canoeing and rock climbing lovers. There is a place also for those who are endowed with a beautiful voice and those who love photography. Student organisations at GUT are numerous and so are their activity profiles. You are sure to find such an organisation that will help you develop your passions or take a break from daily routine of studying.
