Overview
Modern biological research requires creative synergy between different disciplines. The TETRAD Graduate Program from University of California, San Francisco's curriculum provides students with a strong foundation in the basic concepts of biochemistry, genetics, developmental biology and cell biology through interactive courses. In the spring quarter, students choose three two-week long, discussion-based mini-courses that focus on a particular problem and encourage students to synthesize concepts from different disciplines to tackle the problem.
Career Outcomes
Students in the Tetrad Graduate Program have an excellent record of career success after graduation. The majority of graduates go on to either postdoctoral research positions or research-related or research-intensive careers. Among our former students, many have gone on to become faculty members, scientists or directors of small groups in academic settings; taken up careers in education, science policy or science writing and careers in biotechnology, pharmaceutical or healthcare companies. A small percentage of graduates have taken up careers in management consulting, software and venture capital firms.
Career outcomes are one part of multiple statistics tracked by program and updated annually by the Graduate Division.
