Overview
The Ph.D. degree in Speech Language Pathology from Kent State University provides community service to help those individuals with or likely to develop communication, swallowing, hearing and balance disorders.
All students receiving a graduate degree from our programs and who complete the necessary practicum are eligible for the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology or Audiology from ASHA and qualify for Ohio licensure. Our faculty is distinguished by its numerous clinical and scientific publications, as well as by its current clinical and research involvement.

- The Ph.D. program in Communication Sciences and Disorders use of a mentor training model requires prospective doc students to identify an area of interest that aligns with at least one of the faculty mentors (listed above). Typically, prospective doctoral students should identify a faculty mentor and area of interest that aligns with that faculty member in their statement of interest (a.k.a. - statement of purpose; letter of intent; goal statement; etc) submitted with their application materials.

- Master's or AuD degree from an accredited college or university (not necessarily in areas of speech-language pathology and audiology)
- Bachelor's degree (not necessarily in areas of speech-language pathology and audiology) for unconditional admission
