About the program
The English department at Emory University supports students in all fields of literary and cultural studies from the Medieval to the contemporary.
We have particular strengths in the early modern period, African-American literature, postcolonial literature and theory, disability studies, nineteenth- and twentieth-century literature of the United States, digital humanities, modern poetry and poetics, and Irish literature.
Graduate students can draw on extensive archival collections in Woodruff Library and the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library in the fields of Irish and African American literature, as well as the renowned Danowski Collection of twentieth-century poetry.
