Overview
The Family and Emergency Nurse Practitioner program at Emory University prepares nurses to provide health care to patients across the lifespan in emergency and primary care settings.
Program content is built on family nurse practitioner preparation but also prepares graduates to manage the care of patients presenting to emergency settings with urgent and emergent health care needs.
The Family/Emergency Nurse Practitioner program is a rigorous, seven-semester, DNP FNP enhanced curriculum that requires prior experience in emergency nursing, disaster/crisis management, military service or related work experience.

Graduates of the Family/Emergency Nurse Practitioner program are prepared to work in trauma centers, urgent and primary care, and emergency settings caring for adult and pediatric patients.

General requirements
Requirements for DNP admission include:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited nursing program (CCNE, NLNAC)
- Unencumbered RN license in the state of Georgia or a multistate RN license
- Minimum of one year of RN experience in the Emergency Room.

- 2-3 References (preference for at least one to be a nursing supervisor)
- Students with international nursing degrees must provide an evaluation from Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools for previous nursing coursework.
- Students with international transcripts for non-nursing degrees must provide an evaluation from World Education Services (www.wes.org) for previous non-nursing coursework.
- TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo scores are required if English is a second language.
