Features
During the first year of the Immunology and Microbiology program at Wayne State University, students take courses in cellular and molecular biology as part of the interdisciplinary biomedical sciences curriculum, as well as courses in immunology, microbiology, and virology.
Participation in journal clubs, seminars and research rotations in faculty laboratories provide opportunities to become familiar with the faculty and other students.

General requirements
Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science degree in biology or a related scientific discipline.
- An undergraduate grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 is required along with strong grades in science courses.
- (Optional but recommended) Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores.
- Three letters of recommendation, preferably from faculty members who know you and your academic work.
- A personal Statement of Purpose (one page). Include a description of your long-term goals, research experiences, and why our program seems suited for you.
