About the program
This program at the University of Pittsburgh admits baccalaureate-prepared nurses to simultaneously achieve their PhD and DNP degrees, from which they emerge as both nurse researchers and advanced practice nurses.
You will join as a dedicated, passionate nurse with a drive and desire to impact nursing research and how health care is delivered, and you will leave with a range of career opportunities available to you, including:

The DNP/PhD Program admits BSN graduates to the BSN to DNP/PhD track.
- Completed online application form
- Application fee
- Complete official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work
- Scores on the TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English test for applicants whose native language is not English
- Three letters of reference (a minimum of two from academic sources)
- Personal essay indicating professional goals, focal area of research, and implications for global health
