Students can access career support from day one. York’s training programmes, careers fairs, internships and enterprise advice enhance our students’ career prospects or can help them prepare for future study. The Careers and Placements team can provide one-to-one support, offering bespoke advice to international students. York also works closely with business, industry, governments and international organisations to design courses that ensure graduates have the skills required to pursue their dream career. They measure the rate of students going to their second year of studies, as well as the rate of students who graduate. It also asks university representatives on the performance of universities, and evaluates university resources, teacher salaries, graduation rates, student academic achievements and satisfaction. After calculating and comparing these criteria, U.S. News ranks the top international universities accordingly.

International Student Support Advisers provide practical guidance on visas and immigration matters, healthcare entitlements and opening bank accounts, whilst academic supervisors and skills centres help students to thrive academically. The University’s college teams and Students’ Union are also there to help students transition to university.
