Established in 1919, the university draws on the tradition of Academia Istropolitana that was founded in 1465 in Bratislava by Matthias Corvinus, the King of Hungary.
Since its founding the university has ranked among the best educational institution on the national level and it has become an internationally recognised centre of scientific study and research.
Comenius university in Bratislava (CU) is the oldest, largest and most complex university in Slovakia. Its 13 faculties offer study programmes in a wide spectrum of disciplines ranging from medicine through humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, mathematics to theology.

Družba Dormitory is a part of the Comenius University in Bratislava. It provides accommodation for Slovak and international students attending Comenius University.
Družba Dormitory is situated near the city centre. The faculty of Natural Sciences is approximately a 5-minute walking distance. The Faculties of Law and Medicine are reachable by public transport in about 15 minutes. Our dormitory is ca 100 meters away from the riverbank of the Danube.
Comenius University Academic Library (CU AL) is a central scientific and information workplace focusing on information support of research and education at the Comenius University in Bratislava. Academic Library provides library, information, bibliographic, documentation, retrieval and other services for its users (mostly students, teaching staff and academic community).

Twelve out of our thirteen faculties are located in Bratislava, which is near 2 other capital cities: Vienna 60km and Budapest 200km. The thirteenth faculty is located in the historical city of Martin, under the famous skiing slopes in the north of Slovakia.
Students can enjoy their leisure in our sports area (tennis court, beach volleyball court, basketball court) or in a small bar. Along the riverbank of the Danube you can enjoy a pleasant walk or a jog.
